Absent Sperm or No Sperm
Absent sperm or no sperm is also known as Azoospermia it is the term when sperm count is equal or less than 15 million/ml in semen of a man or virtually no sperm count in the ejaculate. This can be found in 1% of the male population or 5% of infertile men. If there's no sperm, does this mean that there's no chance for a child?
No, the reality is that sperm is being produced and not delivered to the semen or there is a blockage such that sperm production, cannot reach the ejaculate. Since the cause of azoospermia can be varied, there will be different treatment options, depending on the cause.
In this case, the doctor may treats a man for TESA/PESA treatment through which doctor may be able to treat with surgery to remove the blockage or sperm can be extracted directly from the epididymis.
